Holiday Gift Guide: For Babies (The Under 1 Crowd)

December 5, 2014

Holiday Gift Guide For Babies (Ages 0-12 Months) | A Girl Named PJ

From clothes to toys to gear, there are no shortages of adorable baby gifts to be found. Still, I often find it tricky to shop for babies, especially my own. I mean, it’s not like they want anything, nor do they have any idea what’s happening during a gift exchange. But that won’t stop me from wrapping up a special plush friend or the newest “it” educational toy for my boys.

This year’s gift guide for baby includes a few items the whole family can enjoy, including adult-approved nursery decor and a swing to free up mom’s arms for 20 minutes or so. Because a few minutes of alone time is a gift in itself.

1. Commemorate baby’s birth with personalized art that’s anything but juvenile.

2. An airplane swing to take him on a bouncy flight – no pilot’s license required.

3. This five-sided wooden Take-Along Activity Box is designed to engage and entertain.

4. Donut rattles may not taste as good as the real thing, but they’re a pretty sweet present for the teething baby.

5. A groovy walker for baby’s first steps — and to help her shuttle her stuffed animals to the nearest outdoor musical festival.

6. This clean-lined rocking horse was designed with the safety of very small children in mind.

7. Looking for a lovey? This vintage-inspired cat doll would make a perfect best friend.

8. Hand-embroidered with the lyrics to “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” this quilt will surely become a family heirloom.

9. Modern, wooden activity gyms are hard to find. This grey one is available with car or animal rattles.

10. For the very proper (or very British) baby: breakfast, lunch, tea, and supper bib set.

11. Baby Dr. Martens. Enough said.

12. Royally cute leggings let baby boys and girls shine bright like a diamond. (I totally went there.)

PS – More gift guides! Check out my gift picks for moms, dads, and preschoolers. Plus, tech gifts you can all enjoy, and specialty gifts for the coffee lover.

Day 12 | No photos from today (well none worth sharing) because I sat in front of my laptop from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. working on deadline. My busy work day also meant that my kids didnt get very much of my attention. My husband kept them occupied for some of the day but I dont think they got any schoolwork done. Oh well we all deserve a lazy day every once in a while. I know I do! | So whats this photo? Just some of the amazing birthday presents I received from my friends this weekend! (Dont worrDay 11 | Emotions have been running high the past two days and everyone has a short fuse. Asa had a full-on temper tantrum because he didnt want to color his drawing of a rainbow and nearly lost his cool while practicing Typing Club. I wish I could do more educational activities with them like taking alphabet walks and tallying up different items around the house but Im totally overwhelmed with a huge deadline this week. In fact I had to keep working after the kids went to bed and now its nearlyC-Quarantine Day 8 | Ive felt anxious many days this past week but today was the first day I had the blues. Not sad about anything specific. Just ... sad. Cabin fever? Exhaustion? We decided to get out of the house to look at the cherry blossoms in Bethesda. The Kenwood neighborhood was quiet so we parked and walked down a side street keeping our distance from the few other people out and about. But with cars parked on one side of the road and moving cars to trying to pass them & the pedestriansOn the first day of #socialdistancing my true love made for me Nutella-filled croissantsyummy! On the second day of social distancing my true love made for me banana muffins with a crumb topping. On the third day... Nope. Tomorrow we work from home/homeschool our kids so its cereal for everyone! #onedaycv #covidquarantine
