My sister, who lives and works in New York City, is a big fan of backpacks for women. Here’s why: Wearing a backpack is more comfortable than carrying an overstuffed tote on one shoulder, especially during her commute from Washington Heights to midtown.
A backpack also allow her to move more freely when she’s at the playground with my nephew. She now uses an Everlane snap backpack as her diaper bag, which is convenient for my brother-in-law because its unisex design means he can carry it too.
Working from home means I don’t need a backpack for my commute (except to Starbucks, perhaps), but I’m considering switching to one for my everyday items. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still totally obsessed with my MZ Wallace diaper bag, but now that Asa is finally walking, I need a bag that will move with me as I’m chasing him around town.
Plus, there’s always something about back-to-school season that makes me want to start carrying a backpack. So I looked around and found a whole bunch of fashionable backpacks for women. Whatever your style, whether sporty or trendy, I’ll bet there’s a backpack for you.

Looking for even more backpack options? Check out this post I wrote for BHG.com about backpacks for adults.
How do you feel about grown-up backpacks? Would you carry one?

I’ve been wearing a backpack since my toddler was born…Tomboy chic (nothing wrong with looking like you’re going hiking!) and I don’t get backache. So surprised that there aren’t more specific diaper backpacks on the market. Gap in the market?

I love backpacks for travel and almost never carry a suitcase. Since I usually carry a big purse, I’m a fan of being able to switch over to a backpack when my back gets bad. So much better for you than hefting a massive shoulder bag!
