9 ways to wear hiking boots for women in the fall and winter | A Girl Named PJ

I may love makeup and jewelry and manicures, but my everyday style is definitely more tomboy than ladylike. At least, the Madewell version of tomboy style that includes cashmere and dresses.

Basically, I prefer to look effortless and chic while feeling comfortable and casual, which is why I couldn’t help but click on this Refinery 29 article, This Season’s Must-Have Show is (Gasp!) Actually Practical.

Trendy and sensible? Yes, please!

According to the website, hiking boots — with their heavy, treaded soles and thick laces — are making a resurgence. They’re like the Birkenstocks of the cold weather months: kind of ugly, super comfortable, and very practical.

Naturally, I want need a pair. Preferably with bright red laces.

If you’re looking for ways to wear hiking boots when you’re trudging around the city and not up on a mountain top, take a cue from these nine stylish ladies. It seems you can’t go wrong with cuffed skinny jeans, chunky sweaters, and plaid.

I also love how black boots lend rugged appeal to an otherwise sexy outfit like a short skirt or a sleek dress. Just be sure to pair them with black tights for a monochromatic look on the bottom.

What, my purple Ahnu hiking boots didn’t make the cut? 😉 I see a LOT of black lace-up boots with leggings and tights over here. It’s a great look!

Day 12 | No photos from today (well none worth sharing) because I sat in front of my laptop from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. working on deadline. My busy work day also meant that my kids didnt get very much of my attention. My husband kept them occupied for some of the day but I dont think they got any schoolwork done. Oh well we all deserve a lazy day every once in a while. I know I do! | So whats this photo? Just some of the amazing birthday presents I received from my friends this weekend! Asa had a full-on temper tantrum because he didnt want to color his drawing of a rainbow and nearly lost his cool while practicing Typing Club. I wish I could do more educational activities with them like taking alphabet walks and tallying up different items around the house but Im totally overwhelmed with a huge deadline this week. Not sad about anything specific. Just ... sad. Cabin fever? Exhaustion? We decided to get out of the house to look at the cherry blossoms in Bethesda. The Kenwood neighborhood was quiet so we parked and walked down a side street keeping our distance from the few other people out and about.
