What’s in your glass of water? Crushed ice? A striped straw? Perhaps a slice of lemon?
Unbeknownst to you, there may be a lot more than straws and garnishes floating in your cup of H2O. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) analyzed nearly 20 millions drinking water tests between 2004 and 2009 and – get this — found 316 pollutants in the drinking water from 45 states.
The contaminants the EWG discovered included agricultural pollutants like pesticides, industrial chemicals from factory discharges, and byproducts of the water treatment process. Yes, even water that has gone through a disinfection process likely still has lead, bacteria, or nitrates in it.
