A writer I follow on Twitter recently declared this “the summer of the high-end flower crown.” She was sarcastically referring to the overabundance of flower crown photos on Instagram, but I’m not sick of the hippie-inspired trend yet. The seasonal hair accessories are perfectly appropriate for outdoor summer gatherings like music festivals, weddings, and garden parties.
And, yes, even kiddie Coachella-themed birthdays. Did you see little North West wearing one at her first birthday party?
These photos are from last week’s Alt Summit garden party at The Grand America. How beautiful do my fellow attendees, including Audrey, Corrine, Tammy, look in their festive floral crowns? I believe that all of them were handmade, too.
Do you want to learn how to make a flower crown? I do!
I found this tutorial video on Stylecaster by the Stone Fox Bride girls, and their 4-step method to crafting a flower crown seems easy enough that even I can do it. You can use fresh or silk flowers, but I’d choose silk; if I’m putting in the effort to make one, I want it to last.
Now I just need an occasion like another Alt Summit garden party to wear a flower crown!
