5 Nail Polish Trends for Fall

October 7, 2013

nars galathee dove grey nail polishMy mother-in-law is a creature of habit. When she finds a nail polish color that she likes, she’ll repeat the same manicure for weeks — sometimes months! — at a time. That’s not to say she prefers traditional hues. She’s currently sporting lilac nails and has previously gone through a greige phase.

On the other hand, I try to take full advantage of the nearly limitless selection of nail polish colors available to me, whether I’m getting a professional manicure or doing my nails while watching TV. I tend to gravitate towards seasonal colors — lighter and brighter in the summer, darker and richer in the winter — and keep a close watch on what’s popular online and in fashion magazines. You won’t see me wearing the same shade two manicures in a row!

I’m also the girl who stands in front of the wall of polish bottles at the salon sampling multiple colors on my bare nails. Sometimes I just can’t narrow down my choices!

If you can relate, here are five nail polish trends for fall that’ll help us both get in and out of the nail salon faster.

Unexpected light green: Revlon Entice, Essie First Timer, Top Shop Gone Fishing

Sexy and sultry burgundy: Nordstrom French Wine, Essie Carry On, Spa Ritual Solitude

Hip holographic shades: Urban Outfitters Pink Hologram, OPI Peace & Love & OPI, Tenoverten Wall Street

Military-inspired neutrals: Essie Armed & Ready, Marc Jacobs Dark Army Green, Sally Hansen Commander in Chic

Bright and bossy blue: Butter London Blagger, Nicole by OPI What’s the Mitch-uation?, Rococo City Slick,

Which fall nail polish trend are you most excited to try?

Day 12 | No photos from today (well none worth sharing) because I sat in front of my laptop from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. working on deadline. My busy work day also meant that my kids didnt get very much of my attention. My husband kept them occupied for some of the day but I dont think they got any schoolwork done. Oh well we all deserve a lazy day every once in a while. I know I do! | So whats this photo? Just some of the amazing birthday presents I received from my friends this weekend! Asa had a full-on temper tantrum because he didnt want to color his drawing of a rainbow and nearly lost his cool while practicing Typing Club. I wish I could do more educational activities with them like taking alphabet walks and tallying up different items around the house but Im totally overwhelmed with a huge deadline this week. In fact I had to keep working after the kids went to bed and now its nearlyC-Quarantine Day 8 | Ive felt anxious many days this past week but today was the first day I had the blues. Not sad about anything specific. Just ... sad. Cabin fever? Exhaustion? We decided to get out of the house to look at the cherry blossoms in Bethesda. The Kenwood neighborhood was quiet so we parked and walked down a side street keeping our distance from the few other people out and about. But with cars parked on one side of the road and moving cars to trying to pass them & the pedestriansOn the first day of #socialdistancing my true love made for me Nutella-filled croissantsyummy! On the second day of social distancing my true love made for me banana muffins with a crumb topping. On the third day... Nope. Tomorrow we work from home/homeschool our kids so its cereal for everyone! #onedaycv #covidquarantine
