What movies do you like to watch over and over?

July 22, 2014

stardust movie claire danesIn yesterday’s post, I mentioned that Levi has only seen three or four movies. What I forgot to include is that he’s watched each of them multiple times.

Isn’t it funny how little kids are happy to watch the same movie over and over again? There must be something comforting about knowing what’s going to happen next.

If I’m planning a movie night at home, I don’t usually choose something from Netflix or Redbox that I’ve already seen. However, there are a few films I’m happy to rewatch if I happen to catch them on TV, including Legally Blonde, Pitch Perfect, and Stardust, starring Claire Danes (above).

Curious about the movie-viewing habits of others, I asked nine bloggers to share the films they’re happy to watch over and over. Here’s what they said:

Paige of Come + Take It:

“If I’m watching by myself, I immediately stop and watch anything Meg Ryan, Gwyneth Paltrow or Julia Roberts – no brainer! Usually though, my husband has the remote and we can agree to watch Iron Man (hey! GP!) or something similar.”

Mari of Small for Big:

“For a long time it was Serendipity with Jon Cusack and Kate Beckinsale. But I swear these days the only movies I see repeatedly are Studio Ghibli flicks with my girl – Totoro, anyone?”

Camille of Friday We’re in Love:

“Stranger Than Fiction. Smart, funny, charming, and just my cup of tea! It always puts me in a good mood and makes me feel like I just read a smart, profound book.”

Joy of Frock Files:

“Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. I always watch these two before traveling abroad because they get me excited about experiencing cities through this really simple way of wandering around and talking. Plus that, I’m a total romantic.”

Ashley of Sugar and Cloth:

“I love all of the Harry Potter films, don’t judge me!”

Carrie of Dream Green DIY:

“I’ve always been a sucker for 1960’s era classics, especially anything including Jane Fonda. Sunday in New York is absolutely hysterical and so edgy for its time—it never fails to bring me out of a blue mood. Oh, and the soundtrack/score by Peter Nero? Jazzy perfection.”

Kayla of Freckles in April:

“My whole family LOVES The Fifth Element with Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich. We quote it constantly (“GIMME THE CASSHHHHH.”) and watch it whenever we’re all together or it’s on TV or it’s a random Tuesday and we get a craving. It’s a family institution.”

Camille of Planning Pretty:

“Funny Face! I am a huge Audrey Hepburn fan and this musical is an amazing duet with her and Fred Astaire. The dreamy dancing set in Paris gets me every time. And, there’s an entire song dedicated to the color pink!”

Emily of Hudson and Emily:

“My favorite movie of all time is A Walk to Remember. I loved it when I was a teenager, and I love it just the same now!”

What movies do you like to watch over and over again? Are any of these films on your list of favorites?

PS – Books for toddlers (for when you just can’t watch Frozen one more time!)

I will stop everything to watch Pitch Perfect (usually when scrolling through channels in a hotel room when I should be out exploring). It puts me in a good mood if I’m not already in one! I also used to watch Clueless over and over. Nothing that makes me think too much, I only watch those movies once. 🙂

Yes, Clueless! I’ve definitely watched it hundreds of time, although not recently. It’s easy to catch Pitch Perfect since it’s ALWAYS on HBO!

I need to rewatch Fantastic Mr. Fox. I think I was half-asleep when we rented it.

Day 12 | No photos from today (well none worth sharing) because I sat in front of my laptop from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. working on deadline. My busy work day also meant that my kids didnt get very much of my attention. My husband kept them occupied for some of the day but I dont think they got any schoolwork done.
