Weekend reading: link roundup

Mother's Day

That’s my mom and me back in 2012 when I had bangs and silky, smooth hair (thanks, Brazilian Blowout!) and she had…a variation of the same hairstyle she has now. We won’t be spending Mother’s Day together on Sunday because we live 1,500 miles apart, but I’ll be seeing her at the end of the month on our family vacation.

My mom lived with us for six weeks starting just before Asa was born, and we would not have survived the newborn stage with so few battle wounds without her help. Love you, Mom!

In between giving and receiving lots of motherly love this weekend, here are some links worth checking out:

If you’re handy with an X-Acto knife and freezer paper (or happen to own a Cricut Explore), you should probably make this “Motherboy” tee for your son, via And We Play. (Any Arrested Development fans out there?)

If you’re always the photographer and never the subject, read these tips for getting in the photo with your kids, via Pinhole Press.

Having a bad day? Here are six easy ways to bust out of your rut and improve your mood, via Yes and Yes.

A behind-the-scenes tour of Don Draper’s apartment and the agency’s office from the current season of Mad Men, via Interior Design.

Since I don’t have a loom, I won’t be weaving any wall hangings any time soon, but I may actually try this yarn banner DIY, via Creativebug.

Two-and-a-half hours of Billy Joel singing and reminiscing during his SiriusXM Town Hall hosted by Howard Stern, via YouTube.

101 places to find great coffee in New York City, via The New York Times.

I don’t totally understand the new “normcore” trend, but I’m all in favor of comfortable sandals, via Impossibly Imperfect.

Set your DVR: The Maya Rudolph Show, a modern-day The Carol Burnett Show featuring SNL alum (and Kristen Bell), aires Monday, May 19th on NBC, via Vulture.

Thanks for the tips on Billy Joel and Maya Rudolf. I’m looking forward to checking out both.

You’re welcome! They’re both such fantastic performers. Now I’m off to set my own DVR!
