I have some exciting news! We found a house in DC! Actually, it’s a townhouse in Bethesda, Maryland, and it’s ours for the next two years. Jordan just got the keys, and I’m hoping to pop by this weekend when the boys and I are visiting. It’s time to start thinking about decorating!
Hope you have a great weekend, whatever you’re planning to do. (Care to share?) Here are some fun links to explore:

J.Crew style at every age.
I’m adding this book, recommended by Joy, to my reading list.
And I’m overly excited that my copy of this book just arrived in the mail!
The sneakers I wore in high school are making a comeback. Long live the ’90s!
For the record, I’d be happy to live in a donut shop.

What an exciting week it’s been! If you found your way here via Say Yes, welcome! I’m so happy to have you and hope you’ll stick around for a while.
If you commented on my posts about where to live in DC or how to talk to kids about hard stuff, thank you! I’ll be responding to each and every message this weekend when I have a some spare time. With Jordan down in Washington, DC for work, this week was slightly more challenging than normal.
I hope you have a great weekend! Here are some fun links to explore:

I’ve been thinking about a quote she pulled from the book Sacred Housekeeping: “Thoughts are living things, and I can bring into my life that which I think the most about. Negative or positive,” via The Yellow Table.

Weekend reading: link roundup (Valentine’s Day edition)
We’ll get to some Valentine’s Day links in a moment, but first, the big story of the week.
By now you’ve surely heard the disappointing news that Jon Stewart is leaving The Daily Show. The silver lining, I suppose, is that some fascinating articles about Stewart from early in his career are being shared on social media. This 1994 interview with New York magazine is a highlight.
Another gem is this revealing New Yorker profile of Jon Stewart from 2002. In the piece, the writer commented that Stewart, who had been hosting The Daily Show since 1999, prefers to be off the grid when he’s off the camera.
Stewart doesn’t have an E-mail address, and when I asked him why, he seemed puzzled. “Don’t you find people contact you way more?” Rather than socialize, he prefers to do crosswords, watch “SportsCenter,” or hang out at home with his wife, Tracey McShane, and their cat and two dogs. He is essentially a high-functioning hermit.
“A high-functioning hermit.” That quote brought me back to my post about introversion and shyness from earlier this week, and I can understand why Stewart, who sounds like he’s an introvert, would be able to act like an extrovert for the sake of his work.
And now, some Valentine’s Day-themed links for your weekend reading.

Weekend reading: link roundup
Acclimating to our new living situation with my parents has been taking longer than I had anticipated. Every room in their house is cluttered with our belongings, most of which are still in boxes and duffle bags. We need to find time this weekend to finish moving in because I’m craving order like never before.
(And once our things are organized, maybe I’ll be able to be more productive. I missed two scheduled posts this week!)
