This bookcase is currently a major source of anxiety for me. Its (unstyled) shelves are filled with books I haven’t referenced in years, random papers to be filed, and swag accumulated from blogging conferences. Once they’re organized, the entire bookcase needs to be relocated* because that’s the wall in the guest room/home office/new nursery where the baby’s crib needs to go.
The crib that Levi is still using.
Because I haven’t made any headway on transitioning his nursery into a big boy room.
My goal for this three-day weekend is to attack the bookcase shelf-by-shelf, tossing as much as possible and finding a new home for whatever I decide to keep. I feel encouraged that I can actually accomplish this project because my parents will be in town, and they can occupy Levi so I can stay focused. Also, my mom gets giddy at the idea of organizing anything and would be more than happy to take charge assist me with the project.

Good luck with the baby’s room and organizing! You’ll be really productive – I feel it! I also have not made any progress on my baby’s room. It is an office/storage/guest room right now and is in serious need of love and attention before this baby arrives! Tackling this weekend too -thanks for the inspiration!
PJ
Thanks — and same to you! Will your room still be multi-purpose or will you be solely using it as a nursery?
Erica
We are making it into a nursery. We moved a lot of the office stuff into the dining area as that’s where one of our desks was already. Since I work from home it’s basically my space anyway but we will be “sharing” more now. It will be an adjustment for sure but I think we’ll manage (at least temporarily). I’m happy to say we got it painted and all the office stuff out. Yay! Next step – figuring out the best way to organize a nursery…

We have several of those bookshelves and they have now survived two moves (1 cross country/packed by the AF, so that alone is impressive). They are a tiny bit wobblier than they were before but they overall they did really well! Good luck this weekend!
PJ
Thanks! I think I might have found a spot for it in my basement — two flights down. I was concerned we’d have to take it apart to store it in the unfinished part of our basement; I don’t think ikea pieces are meant to be rebuilt!

Cancelling Newsroom?! Dangit. I liked that show.
PJ
Me too! But (apparently) many people dislike it. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why there are so many Newsroom haters!
Erica
I love that show. So good.
