How to wear clogs this fall

How to wear clogs this fall on A Girl Named PJ

I never really thought of myself as “clogs girl” because my style has always been more haute than hippie. More refined than relaxed. More Wall Street than Woodstock.

You get my drift.

But wouldn’t you know, I’m totally into clogs this fall. It probably has something to do with the fact that I finally found a brand that fits my big, narrow feet. I was never able to wear clogs during the 90’s flower child resurgence inspired by Drew Barrymore because they were always too wide, but Sven Clogs are custom made for a perfect fit.

Keep reading to learn how to enter my Sven Clogs giveaway!

I also kind of love how they add a relaxed earthy vibe to my otherwise uptown wardrobe. I’m on a mission to define my style, and while I don’t think I could ever become a full-fledged Bohemian, I appreciate the casual, easy-to-wear look of clogs.

HOW TO WEAR CLOGS THIS FALL

This summer I ordered my first pair of Sven clogs, which were basically sandals with a wooden base. My newest pair, their halter top clogs, made their debut in Portland earlier this month — and every time I wear them, they just keep getting more and more comfortable.

(I actually wanted the high heel version, but they didn’t come in the enormous size that I needed them. Sad face.)

I tried wearing them with a dress, but with all that black, they looked way too heavy. I also tried pairing them with bootcut jeans, but the look was boring because you couldn’t see the unexpected ankle strap. Next up, I want to wear them with flare-cut denim.

My favorite way to wear clogs this fall is with cropped skinny jeans or cuffed boyfriend jeans. You need to show a bit of ankle to give the decidedly unsexy shoes a bit of, well, sex appeal.

In an easy, tomboyish way, of course.

I’m actually toying with the idea of wearing them with socks when it gets too cold outside for uncovered toes this winter. Is that crazy? I don’t even know myself anymore.

If only Portland was located closer to my family on the East coast! And thanks — I felt very Portlandish wearing my jumpsuit + sweater + clogs.

Happy to have at least one kid willing to stand in front of a random mural and smile for the cameraDiscovered a new-to-me fruit at the @westsidemarket in Cleveland: #Rambutan. They look like the offspring of a strawberry and those spiny brown balls that fall from trees but I have no idea what they taste like. Have you heard of them? Eaten them? Im so curious! Are you still in a food coma from last night or have you moved on to leftovers already?Grateful for these silly turkeys (most of the time)
