Why I’m taking a blogging break

January 7, 2016

On a blogging break -- which is like taking a sabbatical

Happy New Year! How have you been enjoying 2016? Are you working hard on your resolutions or have you already given up on working out, eating healthfully and organizing your home? You can tell me; I won’t judge!

One of my New Year resolutions is to take better care of myself. That includes making long-neglected appointments with various doctors, going to bed earlier, and figuring out where I put my exercise clothing when I unpacked last June.

My goal is to get out of my head and back into my body, and I also plan to try a few new things this month like meditating and acupuncture. I’ve been so distracted lately by all the noise up there that my creativity has suffered. The blog has been quiet these last couple of week because I’ve been struggling to feel inspired.

Basically, I don’t know what I want to write about anymore.

Why I'm taking a blogging break | A Girl Named PJ

For the rest of the month, I’ll be on a blogging break. A sabbatical, of sorts. I’ll still be working on freelance assignments, and I have an exciting guest post coming up for The Land of Nod, but I won’t be updating A Girl Named PJ until February.

Of course I’m scared that my numbers will take a hit and that all of you will forget about me, but that’s a fear I have to face.

I hope to return next month feeling refreshed and ready to roll. Who knows, maybe my next big idea will happen while I’m actively trying not to think of ideas!

In the meantime, you can stay up-to-date on my non-blogging life by following me on Instagram. I probably won’t be posting as frequently as I normally do, but I can’t stay away completely. It’s my favorite social network.

See you in a month!

PJ xx

Part of my motivation to take this break is to get back in touch with what it is I actually feel. I’ve been running on automatic for far too long!

Good for you, PJ! It’s SO important to rest when we need to, especially from jobs like blogging which require such constant attention. I hope that your break leaves you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and peaceful! xoxo

Thanks, Marlene! I’m excited to put the time and energy previous spent on blogging back toward my own self-care.

Best of luck on your sabbatical! I’ll sure miss your posts, but I know we’ll still chat on Instagram…and maybe even Facetime! 😉

That’s really awesome PJ. I think everyone, not just bloggers, should be encouraged to take sabbaticals. It’s so necessary for our mental and physical health! Rest up girl!

Enjoy your break! I’ve taken up meditation with the new year and have found it very rewarding. Each day I take more steps toward being at total peace with a slow life. It’s OK just to Be, when you need to.
