I had only planned to take monthly photos of Levi until he turned one year old, but the sentimentalist in me feels compelled to continue documenting Levi’s developments through monthly letters and pictures. Like babies, toddlers change so quickly, and I want a record of Levi’s milestones at each and every stage.
However, I’m not sure photographing Levi next to his blabla doll in our white Eames rocking chair is the way to go for these next twelve pictures. It got increasingly difficult (and borderline dangerous) to get my squirmy little boy to sit still in a chair that moves, so taking his photo became a two-person job. Since I’d prefer to not rely on JB being home in order to take these pictures, I’m considering a change of scenery. But where? Should it be the same setting every month?
Part of me loves the idea of continuing the series the same exact way so his growth is super obvious. However, it might be fun to mix things up for our second year of monthly photos. Perhaps he doesn’t even need to be wearing the same white onesie in every shot. Maybe showcasing his favorite outfit every month would be more fun.
As I suffer from paralyzing indecision — and because Levi’s 13 month birthday is quickly approaching! — I turn to you for advice. Should continue taking Levi’s monthly photo in the white chair with Socks the Fox or should change it up for months 13 – 24?

We did Harper in a chair in her bedroom covered with a white blanket for pics 1-12. We have contined in the same chair but took the blanket off the chair to make it different. 🙂 So far 13-17 have been waaaay more difficult than any in 1-12. 🙂

I guess I didn’t answer your question…I love these with Socks and in this chair. If you can keep it I would. 🙂

I say change it up! I love cute outfits! Maybe just change to one new setting, and then change the outfits each month. P.S. We received Suzette the Fox. Lu was most interested in the tag on her back. Suzette is going into storage until Christmas, but I took a photo of Lu with her — will email it to you. It’s SO cute and I can’t wait until Lu is old enough to be into wanting to dress her up in the cute costumes they offer. 🙂

As the mother of a very mobile 20 month old… it gets harder and harder to photograph him ANYwhere, much less seated exactly where you want him!
You might enjoy having monthly photos of him in his favorite outfit engaged in a seasonally appropriate activity, or playing with a favorite toy that’s very engaging at the time. It will be a nice way to document growth that can’t be seen in a seated portrait, i.e. the motor skills he’s mastering, the little things he’ll get into along the way, making his first snow angel, whatever it may be.
I do love seeing all of the 12 shots in a row! What a wonderful way to see how he’s changed!

I say change it up! Make it fun. Maybe about a new thing he learned, or discovered.

I love that it’s in the same setting with the same doll, because it really makes it striking to see how much he has grown. While I love the chair setting, if it’s dangerous, that’s no good.
But I say keep the blabla doll for consistency and change up the outfit.

The chair is part of what gives it a sense of growth as Levi embiggens. The simplicity is nice too. I vote chair.
You could also try old + new to see what you prefer!

Hi, I would love to do this for my nephew! Did you use a specific software or program to place all these pics into 1 photo? I’d like to take all 12 of his “monthly onesie” pictures and place it in chrono order on 1 page and frame it for my brother/SIL.

I love your collage! I’ve been taking the same picture of my little lady, Finley Ann, in hopes of making the same sort of collage. Can I ask, how did you put the pictures together? A site? or an app?
Daphne
Thanks! 🙂
PJ
Thanks! I used Photoshop to put together the collage, but I bet you could do something similar using PicMonkey online.

Where did you get the number stickers for Levi’s pictures? They’re perfect!
PJ
They’re actually iron-on numbers that I bought at Michael’s! However, I got them in 2011, so I’m not positive they still carry that exact style. If not, I’m sure they have something similar!

Where did you get your chair from?? Saw your post in pinterest
