Happy August! July was an absurdly busy month, so my goal this weekend is to start playing catch-up…on everything. Work. Sleep. Orphan Black season 1. You know, the important things in life.
By the way, I’m totally hooked on Orphan Black and eager to start season 2. Do you watch it?
Here are some interesting links worth checking out this weekend:
An app (and well-designed neck pillow) to help you sleep anywhere.
There’s a scientific reason why you prefer tomato juice on an airplane. (h/t @alliepal)
Has anybody read this parenting book? Was it helpful?
Five new products for styling curly hair.
Looking for a shortcut to stress relief? You may also want to consider these mindfulness resources.
Turn yourself into an emoji.
How to be more photogenic in selfies.
Proof that basics can be beautiful.
Our Instagram life vs. reality.
What’s your opinion on minimalist fashion for kids?
Have a great weekend! I’m sure I’ll be procrastinating on Instagram and Twitter, so look for me there!

My husband and I watched Orphan Black and loved it. You can get season 2 on Amazon Prime. And I sort of skimmed that parenting book, but found it most helpful for older children and teenagers (my children are little). There are some good tips that worked with my husband though, like leaving a note when you need something done, versus nagging.

We just started season 2 last night – yay! And I love that a parenting book helped you communicate better with your husband. Good tips are good tips, right?

Just coming to your blog from Instagram. Looks beautiful so far! I will definitely stay and have a wander around!!
I haven’t watched Orphan Black (not sure we get it in the UK, but I may check it out.)
I like the link to instagram versus reality – It is so true, but I have to be honest, I like Instagram for the escapism. I log on for the beautiful pictures and images…..I have enough dirty dish / no makeup / burnt dinner reality of my own -so no need follow anyone else’s. I especially like feeds that post with a tongue in cheek humour…but with beautiful pics !

Thanks for clicking over from Instagram, Diana! “Orphan Black” is on BBC America over here, so I have to assume it’s available in the UK, too. If so, you must watch it!
I also use Instagram as a way to escape, and I especially love when ‘grammers can make the ordinary, every day stuff look lovely and beautiful.

How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will talk is one of my faves. Raising Your Spirited Child is another.

I just put both books on hold at the library! Thanks!

Just peeking through your site a bit. Best books I’ve ever recommended to parents (mostly for when they’re pre-teen or teens, but you can never start too early!)
Primal Teen – good understanding of brain science behind pre-teen & teen behavior. (Author also has one on middle-aged brains which I’m about to read…)
Talent Code: understanding of what circumstances develop talent and habits and what brain chemistry is happening behind the scenes (you’ll probably learn from it too!)
PJ
I haven’t heard of either but will definitely check them out. Thanks!
