While we were hanging out with friends at the pool late Saturday afternoon, a wave a sadness hit me. For a moment I thought it was Sunday, and I was bummed about having to return to the daily grind in just a few short hours (yes, even VPTWAHMs deal with the daily grind). What a relief it was when I realized we still had full day left of our weekend to enjoy!
That just goes to show what a busy day we had had on Saturday before we even slapped on sunscreen and hit up the baby pool. In the morning, my little family and two other families formed team Walking for Wendy at the PurpleStride Omaha event. It was sunny and hot for a two-mile walk around Chalco Hills, which kicked off when Levi’s morning nap usually begins. We had hoped he would fall asleep in his stroller, but instead, Levi wailed the entire two miles. Overtired and uncomfortable from teething (I’m about ready to pull out those two bottom teeth myself!), my poor baby screamed in his stroller, so three of us took turns carrying him, which only minimized his cries to a whimper. This bad mommy forgot to bring ibuprofen and/or teething tablets. Ugh, I felt terrible about that oversight.
After the walk, when Levi was finally asleep in his crib, I went to the hair salon and left with a drastic new ‘do. (I’ll share before/after photos tomorrow!) Then we had some lunch, tidied up the house and met our friends for some swimming and poolside pizza.
Sunday was less busy but felt just as satisfying. JB cooked up some delicious challah French toast for breakfast, and we took Levi to his friend’s first birthday party in the afternoon. There was music and singing and delicious pink ombré cake. JB was convinced that the three layers each tastes different, but the birthday girl’s mama assured us they were exactly the same flavor!
We capped off the night with the season premiere of “True Blood” and the season finale of “Mad Men.” Did you watch either? What did you think? I read somewhere that there will be only two more seasons of “Mad Men,” and I’m so anxious to see how the story continues. What year will it be when the show returns? Does anybody else hope that Don stays faithful to Megan?
