Before Yom Kippur (the day of Atonement) begins at tonight, I’d like to apologize to anyone I’ve unknowingly hurt this past year. Blame it on paranoia, low self-esteem or Jewish guilt, but I often worry that somewhere out there is somebody who’s mad at me. Somebody I’ve unintentionally upset or offended with my words or actions.
If that person is you, I’m sorry.
Also, if I’ve already apologized to you for something I said or did this year that I later learned was hurtful, I ask for your forgiveness one more time — just to be sure we’re all good.

That “al chet” was beautiful, baby. Thank you for sharing it.

Sometimes I wish I followed Jewish tradition because of the beauty of these types of holidays.

Yom Kippur is a solemn day, for sure, but can also feel very cathartic.
