It’s that time of year again. Time to craft our New Year’s resolutions.
Ugh.
As a new mom, I hardly have time to wash my hair, let alone master an extensive to-do list. And isn’t that what making resolutions basically involves? Creating a massive to-list for the year?
Still, I’d like to begin 2012 with a goal. Just one thing I want to attempt to accomplish within the 365 day time frame. So here it is:
My one resolution is to read an entire book.
The last book I read cover to cover (well, on my iPad) was Tina Fey’s Bossypants. I read it in the middle of the night in the weeks after Levi’s birth while I was nursing him. Now I just need to decide what book I will attempt to start and finish this year. Among my many choices: Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy, The Hunger Games series and Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling.
What is your single resolution? It could be big or small. What’s the one thing you’d really like to accomplish in 2012?

I made goals not resolutions. 🙂 I made personal, parental, family & wife goals.
On someone’s blog I saw they were doing a purposeful word for the year.

After looking over my goals I saw a theme and my 2012 purposeful words are Patience & Present.
I also saw a challenge on clutter and decided to that.

Already 52 pounds down!!
Happy New Year!

I’m intrigued by both the idea of a purposeful word and of tossing 500lbs of clutter! Thanks for sharing both links!

I also do a purposeful word for the year. Can’t remember where I first got the idea, but I have done it for the last 3 years.

First: Mindy Kaling’s book is a must-read! I think you will love it.
Second: my resolution was to make this year the Best Year Yet. Good thing I have 361 days to work on that.

Any idea what would make 2012 the Best Year Yet? (If so, I’d like to know!)

I’m going to work on figuring that out today. My initial thoughts: strengthen my relationships (husband, friends, new friends, family), relax, travel, see joy in every day, commit to a hobby, be well. I guess that turns my one resolution into a bunch of resolutions, huh? Hmmm.

I haven’t chosen a resolution yet, but I like the idea of finishing a book – that hasn’t happened since I was pregnant…. I recently started ‘Please Look After Mom’ by Kyung-sook Shin which has been really interesting and engaging so far, but I also feel really susceptible to all kinds of motherhood emotions right now and it’s pushing a lot of those buttons! Looking for a funnier book next and Mindy Kaling’s is at the top of the list.

I read 52 books every year. But my big (new) goal for 2012 is to run 500 miles over the course of the year.
