I don’t remember ever being terribly jealous as a kid that my family didn’t celebrate Christmas. After all, we had our own Jewish traditions, plus we always did something special on December 25th to celebrate my parents’ anniversary. For many years, we went into New York City to eat and see a Broadway show (and sometimes make a detour to Rockefeller Center to check out the holiday decorations).
Still, I’ve always loved Christmas trees. Whether draped in white or multi-colored lights and adorned with matching or clashing ornaments, there’s always been something magical about twinkling Christmas trees.
If you’re unwrapping presents found underneath your Christmas tree, I wish you a very merry Christmas! And if you’re enjoying Chinese food and a movie, I hope you have a fun and relaxing day.
Finally, happy 37th anniversary to my mom and dad, the best Mimi and Ubie a grandkid could have!
