I may have missed Levi’s first steps on Thanksgiving, but I was right there last night when he stood up and walked across his bedroom completely unassisted!
(We tried to capture him walking back, but when JB told Levi to “walk to mommy,” Levi got on his hands and knees and crawled over.)
At 16 months old, Levi is far from a baby, but I’m not sure I’m ready for him to be a big boy. We’ve been waiting months for this milestone; in a way it makes official his toddlerhood status. Pretty soon he’ll ditch crawling all together to walk and run 100% of the time. He’ll be unstoppable.
Most babies I know reached this milestone much sooner than Levi. At what age did your little one start walking?

What a great video!! So fantastic to have this milestone caught on tape. I guess I need to invest in a little camcorder, or do you just use your phone for all videos?
PJ
We have a Kodak camera that’s small like a Flip video camera, but we usually end up shooting all of our videos (including this one) on our iPhones just because we always have them on us.
Rachael
Alex and I just watched the video. Alex says (literally) “Good, Levi!” How exciting!
PJ
Tell Alex that Levi says, “Thanks for the encouragement!”
courtney @ larking.
Lorelei started walking right on her 15 month birthday. There was a cute little girl at the library who was running around and L wanted to chase her but was too slow on hands and knees – I think she finally figured “What the hell, I’m going for it.” 🙂 I didn’t walk until I was almost 16 months old, so Levi is in good company!
PJ
I’ve actually heard many stories about toddlers suddenly starting to walk because something interesting caught their attention, like a family dog or a potential playmate at the library 😉
Lindsey
Way to go, Levi! Technology is a wonderful thing when you have a baby. I am so excited to see this!
My oldest daughter, Lisa, and my youngest granddaughter, Calliope, both walked two weeks before they turned 10 months old. My second oldest granddaughter, Madeline, didn’t walk until she was 18 months old. All of them walk normally now, so it really doesn’t make any difference when they they started.

Thanks, Lindsey! Neither we nor his pediatrician were concerned that he hadn’t started walking yet, but it is sort of a relief that the wait is over!
Lynn
YAY! Go Levi! What a great video. He’ll be running away from diaper changes before you know it 😉
Walden started walking before 10 months (as did I – maybe there’s something genetic in it!). I missed the days when I could count on him to be happy in his stroller. Now I can hardly keep up with him!
PJ
Thanks, Lynn! Changing his diaper is already exhausting because he’s soooo squirmy; I’m not looking forward to having to chase him down first!
Shannon
Yayyyy Levi!!
PJ
Thanks, Shannon!
