I asked for opinions, and you voiced them! Thanks to everyone who left a comment on the blog or on Facebook yesterday regarding Levi’s 13-24 month photo shoots. There didn’t seem to be a consensus, though; many of you like the idea of using a singular location but dressing Levi in a variety of outfits for the next round of pictures. Others think each monthly photo should document Levi doing something different, perhaps showing off a new skill or favorite toy, in various settings.
Still torn, I decided to seek out inspiration on Pinterest. Here are some collages of more clever monthly baby photos…
If Levi could stand on his own, I would consider a standing series like this one by Tabitha from Fresh Mommy blog. I like the idea of Levi wearing just a diaper so that his pulkies — a Yiddish word for ultra-squeezable baby thighs — are visible. Plus, I wouldn’t have to iron-on a new number every month!
Photographer Rachael Spiegel had a similar idea of sitting her son in a chair to take his monthly photo. However, she used a kid-sized seat, which may be a better (read: safer) option than trying to keep Levi to sit still in our white Eames rocking chair. She also went the white onesie route but without adding monthly decals.
I found this photo series on Pinterest but can’t seem to track down the original source. While it only captures a few months during the first year, that little guy’s growth is obvious, and I like how he’s wearing a different outfit in each photo. The prop–a full laundry basket–stayed the same, but his wardrobe changed.
And the top photo from Angela Hardison of her daughter Margo is one of my favorites. First, that vintage chair is amazing. I also love that Angela writes the month on hanging mini chalkboards rather than adding it in later with Photoshop and that sweet Margo is dressed in an adorable outfit and not a plain white onesie.

I’m a fan of the standing giraffe – you could even have Levi propped up to stand until he can do it on his own. (Perhaps the Laugh and Learn playhouse?!) (p.s. hooray for my first comment on any blog… ever!)
I love this post! My daughter is now 10.5 mo and that standing giraffe session just gave me a great idea for her 2nd year. So cute!

Great action shots! And I really like how you incorporated “Likes” and “Dislikes” into each shot. Maybe I’ll do lists like those instead of writing long monthly letters this time around. Thanks for the idea!
