Thank you to everyone who left comments, sent Facebook messages and emailed with words of encouragement in response to yesterday’s revealing post. Its reassuring to know that I’m not alone in my feelings–or alone in general.
So I thought I’d lighten the mood today with a funny story. And what’s funnier than a story about poop, right?
(If talking about baby poop makes you uncomfortable, stop reading now!)
I was playing on the floor with Levi, who was sitting in his Bumbo when he started to squirm and whine. It sounded like gas, and with each little fart that escaped, his tush lifted out of his seat a couple of inches. I tried so hard not to laugh because he was clearly not too pleased with whatever was happening in his pants. Then it dawned on me. The baby was trying to poop. His facial expressions and body language gave it away.
Like a good mom, I went to investigate the situation. Sure enough, I found a squishy but solid “real person” poop in his diaper. Mark this milestone on the calendar: the baby’s poops have changed consistency! As I lifted Levi’s legs to wipe his rear, he suddenly grunted out another Tootsie Roll-shaped turd! And then a third! At this point I really couldn’t help that I was laughing at his discomfort. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing…and smelling!
But the story gets better…or worse, depending on whether you have a sense of humor. While he was mid-poop, the baby started peeing on himself! Of course, I had just reached the last baby wipe in the package and had to scramble to find a new pack before the situation got any messier. Thank goodness a fully-stocked diaper bag was close at hand.
I so wished that JB was there to experience that wacky and gross moment with me. I may or may not have snapped an iPhone photo of Levi’s diaper to show him when he returned home from work…
Yes, baby poop and baby farts make me laugh (when I’m not gagging). Can you relate? Do you have a funny poop story to share?
