A Girl Named PJ

boppy vs my brestfriend

June 3, 2011

Boppy Pottery Barn Kids

Although everyone seems to have a Boppy, I’ve heard that My BrestFriend is actually easier to use for breastfeeding (which I’m hoping I’m able to do). Unable to decide, I registered for both.

But after checking out our baby registry, my husband is now wondering if we actually need all this stuff. Truthfully, I didn’t think I had registered for many non-necessities, but I suppose just one nursing pillow would suffice.

So I’m asking you, my mommy friends and readers — should I get a Boppy, a My BrestFriend or both? Do they serve different purposes?

I dont know what the difference between them is… I didnt use either when I was breast feeding pd. But I was looking at your registry and I was truly surprised by how little was on your registry. So with that being said, can I get you something that is not on your registry, but that I know you could use and will love?!?

Also do you guys plan on having music in the baby’s room? Did you get a docking station for an IPOD?

Guess I caused some breastfeeding drama 😉

Stacey, we were planning on using an ORB MP-1 (now added to the Amazon list… thanks for reminding me!) to remotely control the music in the nursery. Is there anything else that you can think of that we’re missing???

PJ – my 2 cents is that you only need the brest friend. I have both and never use the boppy. The bf allows me to sit up straighter and not have to hunch over. I have heard that some people like the boppy newborn lounger (not for breastfeeding, just for the baby to lay on), but I didn’t have one and didn’t miss it.

I found My BF to be easier for nursing my tiny baby, but the Boppy came in handy as a place to prop up the baby and support him when he was learning to sit. So, I liked having both!

I have/had a Boppy & I never used it. In the beginning, before I got the hang breastfeeding, I just used regular pillows(specifically for the football position). Once we got a groove going I didn’t have to use anything. I guess my point is, you don’t really need anything.( I’m glad I didn’t pay for that Boppy) I ended up using it to prop the baby up for pictures!

Love getting holiday cards from friends but now Im feeling like a slacker because we havent had professional family photos taken in a couple of years. If I even get around to sending cards this year (doubtful) theyll likely have an iPhone selfie for the imageHappy to have at least one kid willing to stand in front of a random mural and smile for the cameraDiscovered a new-to-me fruit at the @westsidemarket in Cleveland: #Rambutan. They look like the offspring of a strawberry and those spiny brown balls that fall from trees but I have no idea what they taste like. Have you heard of them? Eaten them? Im so curious! Are you still in a food coma from last night or have you moved on to leftovers already?
