Today’s to-do list looks identical to yesterday’s list. *Sigh*

My productivity came to screeching halt yesterday when Levi’s sniffles turned into a full-blown cold by the time I picked him up from Montessori. Afraid he’d get an upset tummy from his post-nasal drip, I let him drink a probiotic yogurt milk smoothie while I prepared the rest of his lunch. Neither my mom, who was chatting with us over Facetime, nor I were expecting Levi to cough so violently and uncontrollably that his smoothie would make a projectile-style reappearance. Covered in sour milk, Levi looked (and smelled) miserable…but the afternoon would only get worse.

Slightly satisfied from mini peanut butter cracker sandwiches and water, Levi watched a 20-minute segment of “Elmo’s World” before it was time for nap. Levi’s naptime is mommy’s work time, so when he doesn’t sleep, I don’t work. Unfortunately, he just couldn’t get himself quiet and comfortable, and he once again had a coughing fit that caused him to vomit on his sheets. Since I didn’t have another clean sheet, I repositioned him on the other side of his crib and immediately threw in a load of his laundry.

But he never closed his eyes to rest. When I finally retrieved him he smelled like, well, puke, so I tossed him the tub for an early bath. He sat and played for longer than usual; I thought that extra time in a steamy bathroom might help clear his congestion. Plus, he loves bathtime. Eventually, Levi’s fingers pruned, which he found confusing, “Boo boo?” he asked.

It was still 4-something in the afternoon, but I dressed Levi in his organic cotton pajamas and brought him to the basement to play with his kitchen per his request. My poor baby had visible bags under his eyes, and his nose dripped with such frequency that I swapped tissues for absorbant and soft burp cloths. Toddler hankies, if you will.

Levi managed to get through a small dinner without choking or coughing it back up, but by 6:45pm he was bone-weary and by 7pm he was out. Feeling exhausted myself, I convinced JB to let us order a pizza for dinner and debated whether or not to even write this post. (My guilt is the reason you are here reading this right now.)

Levi’s striped bodysuit is by Hanna Andersson, which makes organic cotton pajamas for boys and girls (even adults!) in bold patterns and cheerful colors. (His plaid slippers are by Kenneth Cole Reaction Kids.) Although you can find Hanna Andersson pajamas at high-end retailers like Nordstrom, I found Levi’s at Costco a couple of months ago. Seriously! Next time you’re shopping for 3 dozen eggs, 100 coffee K-cups, and 18 rolls of paper towels, keep your eyes open for cute toddler pajamas!
