location, location, location
Today my grandmother is moving out of the house she has lived in for 63 years. Can you believe she’s had just one home her entire adult life? When my grandma moved in at age 19, she was already a college grad and a newlywed!
In my adult post-college life, I’ve called six different apartments in three different states home. When I was 25, I even moved back in with my parents for a couple of months.
JB and I have been in our house almost three years now–the longest I’ve stayed anywhere since I was growing up. But this is not our forever home. When my husband’s military commitment is up, we both want to get out of Omaha. Nebraska’s been a nice place to live for the past five years, but the Midwest is not really us. Where we go next will depend on what career path he chooses to pursue. Unfortunately, nothing is definite right now, which is why thinking too far into the future makes me anxious. We have no idea where will be or what we will be doing. Scary stuff for anybody, but especially for new parents.

video: levi and his rubber ducky
Levi was being so funny in the bath last night that I thought I’d make another short home movie to share with you. This one took significantly less time to create than my first video! But I’m still not sure if it’s better to post using Vimeo or YouTube. Seems like a lot of the “big” bloggers out there utilize Vimeo. Does anybody know why?
Mom Confession: I thought I’d be super anal about sterilizing (or at least cleaning) Levi’s bath toys on a regular basis, but I’ve been pretty lazy about it. I feel a little bit guilty about it.

a kid-sized teepee
He may not realize it yet, but one day Levi is going to want a teepee. A fabric-covered hideaway where he can play with his toys or read some books. And when he asks for one, I will be happy to oblige. Kid-sized teepees give off this minimalist/crafty/hippie vibe that I appreciate because, really, I’m none of those three adjectives. But most of all, I just love how adorable they look in a living room or bedroom!
Instead of waiting for Levi to ask for a miniature teepee of his own, maybe I should go ahead and create an adult version now–the tented reading nook.

mom’s gonna snap
The double entendre on this t-shirt makes me smile. Not a day has gone by since Levi was born that I haven’t taken his photo with either my DSLR or my iPhone. There’s a pretty good chance he’s the most photographed baby on the planet. I just can’t help myself; I’m afraid I’ll miss capturing an adorable/memorable/milestone moment if I put the camera down. So I’ll just have to sort through 896,493 photos from Levi’s first year in order to put together his baby album. It’ll be his college graduation gift!
