If you’ve been following A Girl Named PJ for a while, you already know that I’m a big fan of blog conferences. I’ve been to Alt Summit four times since 2013 — twice as an attendee and twice as a speaker. And this October, I’m planning to attend The Hello Sessions in Portland, Oregon.
I’m pumped about The Hello Sessions for a couple of reasons. First, I love the idea that it’s going to be a workshop-based conference. Creative entrepreneurs and bloggers will get hands-on experience with new skills related to their professional goals — finding a book publisher, growing a social media following, etc.
Second, I really like that it’s going to be a small. Sometimes blog conferences can feel overwhelming, but The Hello Sessions will only have 150 attendees and a limit of 50 students per workshop. The day will be divided into three 90-minute “periods” (like in school!) with three workshops occurring simultaneously during each period. The full schedule of workshops and the list of speakers are available here.
But the reason I’m most excited about The Hello Sessions is that the organizers are two of my very favorite blogging friends, Melissa of Lulu the Baker and Joy of Frock Files. Melissa and Joy have been working for almost two years on The Hello Sessions, and I’m beyond thrilled to see their workshop-based conference go from an idea to a reality.

Tickets will be going on sale later this month! Find out when and get more information about the conference by signing up for The Hello Sessions newsletter on the home page of the website.
See you in Portland!
PS: Here’s what I learned as an attendee at Alt SLC and Alt NYC, and here’s what I presented my first time as an Alt Summit speaker.

Hmmm… I think something is going on with the website right now thought? Tried to check out the speakers/schedule and sign up for the newsletter, but when I try to click anywhere other than the home page, it doesn’t work. Will check back later, but wanted to note it here just in case the conference organizers see it. thanks!
