Every time I open my closet doors, I discover another article of clothing that doesn’t quite feel like me anymore. I can’t get dressed in the morning without first scrutinizing my wardrobe.
Why did I buy such a colorful top?
Will I every really wear those patterned pants?
When did this sweater get so tight?
Pretty soon there’ll be more clothes in the sell/donate pile on my bedroom floor than hanging in my closet and folded in my dresser.
The problem is that I’m not sure what type of clothing would feel like me because I can’t seem to define my everyday style. Am I a ladylike tomboy? A preppy bohemian? A trendy minimalist?
That’s why I’m excited to partner with Vaseline today to introduce a new series on personal style. I know that the clothes I wear tell a story about who I am…but what is that story?
MY EVERYDAY STYLE
During the week, I want to be comfortable yet stylish. My days are divided between shuffling my two boys to their activities, running errands, writing in coffee shops, and sneaking in afternoon power naps on the couch.
Athleisure is a popular look for many young moms in my town, but I just can’t jump on the Lululemon bandwagon; I’m way too self-conscious to wear yoga pants outside of the gym.
Instead, I’m a denim devotee. This winter, I wore skinny or straight-leg jeans with chunky sweaters or oversize cardigans almost every day. Now that it’s not freezing anymore, I’m swapping cozy knits for simple stripe tops and button-down shirts.
When I take Asa to his morning playgroups, I usually slip on my Chuck Taylors, but when I’m out on my own, I feel more polished wearing booties or wedges.
THE NO-MAKEUP MAKEUP LOOK
My everyday makeup tends to remain the same no matter what’s on the agenda: Mascara, eyebrow gel, blush, and lip gloss or balm. For a natural, glossy shine, Vaseline’s classic lip treatment can’t be beat — it’s affordable, non-sticky, and provides long-lasting moisture.
The iconic brand recently brought over their covetable Vaseline Lip Therapy Tins from the UK, and the sleek little tins have already found their way into all of my bags and jacket pockets. My favorite is Rosy Lips Tin, which has delicious scent and provides a light tint that’s perfect for that no-makeup makeup look. Of course, you can’t go wrong with the Original Tin, made with 100% pure Vaseline jelly.
As I continue to explore my personal style, I thought it’d be helpful if I shared more outfit posts on the blog. Since this is the first in a series of style posts I have planned for March, I’d love to know what you think of this one. Please leave a comment below!

Okay girl, I love your style! I’m all on board for the skinny denims (or leggings) with oversized sweaters! Also, I’m on the west coast so I live in lulu lemon world. I had a brief stint of wearing them out but I just felt so dressed down.
When I last went to the UK I STOCKED up on these tins! 1 or 2 of every kind. Shea butter is my fave!

PJ, you are gorgeous and I LOVE your style! I adore those booties with the cuffed skinnies, too cute! I struggle with the same issue because I like so many styles! Some days I want to wear colorful tribal full-skirt dresses, and others I want to look like I stepped out of a Madewell catalog. My indecision makes shopping hard, and I end up with lots of unique pieces that can’t be worn together, which means too many clothes and not enough outfits! Anyways, I love the looks you’ve put together here and I can’t wait to see more of your ideas in this series! Killer photos, too! xoxo

I love this. And I need it, too. I’m in a total style rut, and I don’t know that I’m picking styles that work for me. Show me more!! 🙂
P.S. Love these photos of you.
